1st Annual Nursing Mama’s Mini Session

So I and a few friends will be hosting our 1st every Nursing Mama’s Mini Session!  We are so excited about this!  I can’t tell you how much I miss breastfeeding.  I stopped at 12 1/2 months for two reasons….one because I thought a year was the norm and it was ‘time’ to quit and two because I was below my pre-pregnacy weight and looked like hell!  I still do haha but am slowly gaining it back.  But I have only one photo of me nursing my little boy.  Just one and guess what?  It was taken with my phone in the hospital right after he was born because I was so proud of the moment when he had finally latched on by himself without help.  I did try to take some ‘nice’ ones but I was too embarrassed to ask my husband to take them and so used a tripod and absolutely none of them turned out.  I deleted them.  Yep sure did.  Wish I hadn’t now though!

This photo shoot is for you.  You who know breastfeeding is beautiful and aggravating.  Those beautiful moments when your heart swells with pride that you only you nourished this little person and aggravating when he bites you or kicks your drink out of your hand and spills it all over you 🙂 all of those moments.  Of course I’m going to get the beautiful ones so you’ll always have them to treasure!!!  =D

James Donald Blogged

My adorable nephew!  He was amazing for these photos.  I’ve been waiting awhile to get pictures like this….the more artsy kind.  And finally I was able to get them!  I’m only going to post a few though…I have kind of crappy internet with a 5GB limit….sigh.

Update for the Night Owls

Well I’m thinking about buying a domain name finally.  I’m a little stuck on which name I should go with though.  But whitehorsedesignphotography.com is available and so is whdesignphotography.com and whdesignphoto.com.  I like the first one best obviously but am wondering if it is too long?

I really wanted to post a pinterest thingy that I did but it has too much information on it so I can’t!  BUMMER.  I can describe it though!  In photoshop I made a little plaque thingy.  It has my sons name, birthday, and newborn stats.  I’m going to have it printed and glue it onto a board painted grey or black and hang it in his room.  I’m going to use that modge podge stuff or whatever it’s called.  I can’t remember.  You can go to my facebook page and view it I just didn’t want to put it on here.  http://www.facebook.com/whitehorsedesign

I’m really sad I’ve given up on my photo challenges but I just couldn’t seem to keep to them with a toddler running around!  His naps are getting shorter and shorter!  When he does nap all I want to do is sit around or clean house!  But one good thing is I’m almost to 200 fans on my facebook page.  I wonder if I’ll ever make it to a 1,000.  I think it would be amazing to be that busy taking photos.  That is my dream/goal.  I want to make this a full time professional business but still time to spend with my family.  I love everything I’m doing so far.  In fact I’ll post a few newborn photos since I haven’t been on here in awhile.

Merry Christmas Friends

Image

Our cute little Christmas card.  I was very pleased with the way it turned out.  I’ve been doing a little bit of obsessive crocheting which of course fanned out over the last few days.  And I’ve all but given up on my 30 & 365 day challenges lol.  I’m terrible.  So much for trying to make it and get better!  But I did get my studio lights a few weeks ago and have been playing with those.  I also bought the photovision DVD’s in an effort to help myself build up confidence and learn some tricks I would probably otherwise not have learned.  And they are helping tremendously 🙂 I have a few pics to post though as I have been very busy.  I wish I could post my boudoir photos I did last week but she doesn’t want them public and I can’t blame her even though she looks beautiful in all of them!  I took a few Christmas photos of Kedric, 3 month photos of my nephew Bryson with a new hat I crocheted, family photos, some one year old photos and of course the boudoir that I can’t post 🙂

Welp the Thomas family photos will have to wait until next time.  They’re on the portable hard drive and I’m not sure what my son has done with it!  Speaking of hard drives….I’m glad I got the Sam’s Club extended warranty on my computer because here about two weeks ago my computer told me it needed replaced.  So luckily I was able to get what I thought were a few pictures (turned out to be around 8500) off of my computer and onto the portable and the few documents off of here in time.  And to make things even better they were able to transfer everything onto the new hard drive so I didn’t even need to reinstall anything!  So that makes me happy but I do need another portable hard drive.  Mine is full!!!  Merry Christmas every one 🙂 and Happy Holidays!

Day 15 & 16

Day 15 & 16 Silhouette and Long Exposure
Ok I know this is cheating but eh…I’ve been wanting to do the silhouette outside and never got around to it and ditto to the long exposure. I should have done it the other night or so when the moon was a sliver. But here comes the shadow puppets. The exposure wasn’t that long but I couldn’t find my tripod anywhere so I couldn’t do one for very long. My husband was doing this in an effort to catch our son’s attention but alas he has toys to play with! They are so much more important and cooler mind you 🙂

Stay at Home Momdom’s

Getting kind of bored here lately! I know it’s hard to be bored with a toddler running around but I think it’s the stuck in the house boredom…not looking forward to winter! 😦 I love the snow…I mean if it’s going to be cold it might as well snow right? It’s better than rain anyways. But here lately I’ve been craving female company. Facebook, cell phones/texts, and skype just aren’t doing it for me anymore. I’d love to join MOPS or one of the MOM’s Club groups in town but we’re on the Dave Ramsey budget and well extracurriculars really aren’t in the budget right now. And it doesn’t help that I’m kind of shy…not very good at approaching people and generally get nervous when I do and talk a lot 🙂 so if anyone has any suggestions hit me up! I’m open for anything really. I’ve lived here for about 3 or so years and haven’t really made any friends my age. I’d just love to find someone that’s close to my age with a child about the same age as mine (13 months). I feel like I should place an ad on match.com or something haha. You would think in the digital age it wouldn’t be so hard to make friends but apparently it is when you’re a stay at home mom and not out in the working world meeting other women/men. And most of my husband’s friends…ok well all of the 2 or 3 that live here in Columbus are single. We joined a church group awhile back and it’s great I love our social times as well as the time we spend studying the bible but I’m the youngest in the group and most of the other women work.

I’d just like to go on walks or go to the park or something simple like that just to spend time with another person other than my husband and son 🙂

Days 9 to 13

Someone you Love
This should be really easy 🙂 He’s really going to hate me when he’s older but isn’t he the cutest!!!

Childhood Memory
I got this when my aunt and uncle married. I was really young. I think I was around four. So I’ve had this for a long time. It’s kind of sad because they’re going through a divorce right now. I’ve always treasured this mainly because it was one of the first pieces of jewelry I had ever received.

Something Blue
I immediately thought of my wedding day but couldn’t find something that I wanted to take a picture of that blue on it so I wandered around outside and realized well…the sky is BLUE! So I went across the road to the neighbor’s house and wanted to see if my old dog could still jump on the round bales. She could of course haha. So she went nuts on them and almost fell off but had fun 🙂

Sunset
I was trying to get a good picture of my husband throwing my son in the air but it was harder than I thought…maybe people do it with more light out because all of mine were blurry.

Me with 13 Things
Took me awhile to figure out how to do this one…I didn’t want to just use random things around me. I wanted these 13 things to sort of represent me. So they are all horsey related 🙂 bridle, bit, spurs, boots, horse chest, brush, saddle, girth, halter, vetrolin (pretty spray & sunscreen), blanket, breast collar, and saddle cover. That’s pretty much everything I need to ride a horse and a little extra!

Day 4 Something Green

Day 4 Something Green
Ok so originally I was going to take a picture of something ‘green’ like earth friendly but apparently we’re not hippies lol. I looked and looked and well to be honest the only thing we do is recycle plastic water bottles so I suppose we’re not really that ‘green.’ So here is a pretty little weed that the bees and butterflies love.

And since it was absolutely gorgeous out here today here is a picture of our beautiful pond and trees in our backyard. Sometimes I love it so much out here I wonder how we’ll ever be able to sell it. Hopefully when we do sell it we’ll find something not too far away 🙂 so we can stay in this area. I took these pictures using the vivid image option on my camera and I wish that I had left it on JPG images only instead of basic and RAW. When I shoot this way the RAW version is plain and has to be re-edited to try to match the vivid version. So sometimes I see it’s better to switch to JPG instead of always shooting in RAW. It would save some editing in some cases anyways.

Day 3 Clouds

Day 3 Clouds
Ok so I’ll admit I did forget….and it was a beautiful day. But it’s also a beautiful night. Not too many clouds out but still pretty. 30 second exposure with horses moving in the bottom part of the photo there.

Day 1 Self Portrait & Day 2 What I Wore Today

Day 1 Self Portrait
I’ve actually been working on a self portrait for 3 evenings! I came up with a good idea but have decided to use it for the faceless portrait. We ran into a bit of a problem! My purse/wallet were stolen out of my car the other night so I spent yesterday running to the banks to cancel everything and today running around trying to get my ID’s replaced. UGH what a hassle! Still the thing I’m most aggravated about was my birthday gift cards. 😦 so no new clothes or a pan rack for me! So anyway here is my self portrait and I think it turned out great!

Day 2 What I Wore Today
I pretty much wear this belt everyday!!! My Christmas present from the best husband ever 🙂 I love this belt!

30 Day Photography Challenge – Getting out of a photo rut!

I found this really awesome website while researching camera problems I was having with my camera. User error problems that is. Just trying to learn as much as I can about my camera so I don’t just ‘point and shoot.’ So I found this completely awesome website and I’m in a terrible photography rut especially where my 365 day challenge is concerned. I’m WAY behind and when I think about it anymore it doesn’t seem to matter as much as before so here’s to another challenge that I will hopefully keep and then try to continue the 365 if that works!

Hopefully I get get my Day 1 self portrait in tomorrow! See ya tomorrow!!!!

Emotions: Days 60-66

Emotions: Fear

Very good thing to have a healthy fear of lol. We were watching the staff feed them with these pointy sticks. And they looked pretty scared. I’m pretty sure that you couldn’t pay me enough to stand by the edge of the water and feed a bunch of hungry sharks!

Emotions: Joy

Pretty sure you can’t get much more joyful than a pregnant woman! Such a beautiful picture…love her expression and the pose. Pregnant women really do glow. I didn’t believe it while I was pregnant but I notice them more now and they certainly do have a glow about them.

Emotions: Disgust

Little Ethan was getting tired of getting his picture taken…haha he looks disgusted with us in this pic. Like seriously guys I’m supposed to think that’s funny!!! Love this little man so much!

Emotions: Surprise

My son had this awesome look of surprise on his face while watching the penguins. Wish you could see it but I’m sure you get the point! He was totally amazed and loved the aquarium!

Emotions: Sadness

This is one sad little boy! He was OVER being in the car and the car rides! He couldn’t wait to crawl around on the floor and be a little monster!

Emotions: Happiness

Gangsta baby! That says it all! Again can’t tell ya how much I love this little guy! Wish I could see him more but he is definitely my nephew if not in blood then in my heart!

Emotions: Anger

This little man was done. He didn’t want anything to do with his buddy or the grass or the picture taking 🙂 haha he was being a stinker! He wanted his mommy!

Building Materials: 53 – 59

53 Building Materials: Brick

This is our ‘fake’ brick that is laid out really crappily (made up word I know) outside of our patio doors. Well I guess it’s real brick because it’s brick but it’s not what I would have laid out. I really want a real brick patio with real bricks. I think that would look pretty especially since we’re planning to build a deck outside of our living room and connecting it to our bedroom. Then we can have a trellis with vines and pretty flowers hanging down. 🙂

54 Building Materials: Stone

I actually kind of like this stone that was laid out front of our house but we’re going to have to remove it when we seal our basement. I’m sure it will come in handy for something. I think we’re planning to put a garage to the side of our house and a front porch/deck on the front of our house and then there will be concrete for the garage so no room for stones but hopefully there will be a few built in flower beds and a couple of benches and a porch swing.

55 Building Materials: Stucco

Let’s pretend this has stucco on it 😀 it does have stuff in between the beams but uhh not sure what it is!!! I’m so far behind I don’t think it matters but this is from our vacation in the Smokey Mountains. This is right outside of Gatlinburg on Cade’s Cove I believe.

56 Building Materials: Concrete

There’s a hand print on our front porch steps. Thought I’d take a picture of it because we’re going to be getting rid of these steps. My cousin said they are solid concrete and pushing into our house’s foundation which isn’t a good thing. I always wonder if people realize when they’re personalizing something if someday down the road someone else will destroy it? It kind of makes me sad. I mean we’re working on our house and we’re personalizing it for us but it’s not our forever home so we’re trying to stay kind of neutral but something or some color I love someone else might hate.

57 Building Materials: Asphalt

Just a photo of our road. I thought it would look neat to take a picture of the lines going down the road but anywhere there are lines on the road is normally way too busy of a road to lay down in the road with an expensive camera and take a picture lol. So gonna stick with the less busy roads!

58 Building Materials: Wood

So for my husband’s birthday I had everyone give him cash so he could go out and buy himself a woodworking tool. We’ve been a little obsessed with Craigslist lately. So he finally found a jointer/planar that was the right price so him and his friend went to Plainfield to get it. And he was playing with it last night. He went to the woods and found a couple of tree branches him and his brother in law had cut down a couple of weeks ago and using his table saw cut it down to size then used his planar to plane the edges of it so it would be even and smooth. So he was pretty excited about it 🙂 and now he’s going to try to make some tree branch looking shelves to go on our son’s wall where I painted a tree.

59 Building Materials: Blocks

Old fashioned fencing. Not much to it but sure was a lot of work!

We are free…

Wow is all I can say about church service today. Alanna Story, a Christian duo, sang some songs at our church and it felt like they were singing it to me. It felt like they were talking to me. Cause of a love that can cripple the strong man, sacrifices the cradle the broken, awakens my soul from sleep. Now I normally don’t like Christian music. It all sounds the same to me which some people will say about country and while that’s true as well it’s what I grew up listening to. So I was mildly surprised to find myself liking this song and these two women’s music. They remind me of Serena Ryder with that deep kind of husky voice. I’ve been feeling pulled towards God more lately. Like He wants more out of me than being the typical label of a Christian. More than going to church and attending small group. More than being just nice and personable. And after hearing these girls speak and sing today along with our pastor’s message I feel more like I’m heading in the right direction. I want a stronger relationship with Jesus, a more personal relationship. I want to hear verses in my head and hear Him speak to me. And I want to know what He wants me to do and I want to do it! I’ve always been too afraid to open my heart enough to hear Him calling because I’ve always been afraid I wouldn’t be strong enough to do His bidding. But I can do all things through Christ and He will never give us more than we can handle.

So anyways Kenny found this locust coming out of his shell yesterday and I thought it would be a good picture to go along with this blog post….we are free.

Photoshop Fun = Family Photo

Oh it is soooo hard to take a family photo! It’s not so bad when you’re a couple all you have to do is pose right and fix your hair but when you add a kid or more that doesn’t understand the words be still and smile then you’re in trouble! So here is my advantage. Ok yes I’m a photographer so a great camera is one advantage but the best advantage is photoshop 😀 So here I’ve taken several pics of us using my tripod and self timer. Forget about posing when there’s a self timer haha! But anyways…I’ve selected the best looking photo of each of us and plastered them all on one photo to make a nice family pic. It’s been forever since we’ve had a nice family pic so this one turned out great! Thank God for overcast days!

I uploaded these photos to my blog because they aren’t uploading right on my facebook page. I’m so upset about it too because I have a lot of photos to upload! When I upload them they are blurry and very pixelated and really who is going to want a photographer if the photos on their page are all blurry and poor quality? So I’m seriously upset about it and have no idea what to do!

Black and White Series: Days 46 – 52

Day 46 Black and White: Light Streaks

So I was thinking and thinking about how I could do this one and was perusing through my most recent pictures and came across fireworks! So duh! I’ve never taken pictures of fireworks before so a lot of them didn’t turn out. And I didn’t have a tripod either….I was using the hood of my car and my not as still as I thought they were hands.

Day 47 Black and White: Portrait

I did this photo session a week or so ago. I really enjoyed it and a lot of the pictures turned out amazing! Visit my facebook page at facebook.com/whitehorsedesign. They were laughing and so much fun to take pictures of. My husband and I really like this one because of the shadowy contrast with all of the highlights.

Day 48 Black and White: Flower

Pretty little lilac like flower during our horse photo shoot. The photographer that took my pictures of our wedding (Stacy Able) did something kind of like this. Hers is way better of course but I still thought I’d give it a try! I held the flower lol just because it was tangled in a mess of flowers that this seemed the easier way to do it. This was super fun! I’ve been wanting to take pictures of my friend and her horse for awhile but it seemed we kept missing each other. I had also never met her horse before and let me tell ya this horse is a gorgeous girl! She’s got a little bit of arabian in her which you can tell from her face and neck.

Day 49 Black and White: Shadows

This is one of my favorite pictures of all times. After I took it I looked at my camera and was amazed. I love this picture! I think it’s a great composition and shows shadows in black and white excellently! It really captures the blacks and the whites. It’s really a perfect portrait of a woman and her horse, she looks like of wild like the horse with her hair hanging down like it is. Have I said I love this picture? I think it really captures the beauty of how much we horse women love our horses. Not just anyone can ride and love a horse like we do. It really takes someone special like my friend here 😀

Day 50 Black and White: Water in Motion

We were over at my parent’s friend’s little cabin on the lake and a storm started blowing in. It didn’t rain much but it really made the water look deep and blue. When I look at this picture again on the preview page I can almost see the water and clouds moving. Sure was pretty!

Day 51 Black and White: Spot Color

Usually when I have trouble I look on the flickr photo pool for ideas but I’m really proud of myself haha I didn’t look! The first thing that came to mind for this one was just a spot of color in a black and white picture. I’m sure others took it that way too but I at least didn’t copy ideas off of someone else! Again it’s my first time taking pictures of fireworks and without a tripod haha so hopefully they’re not too terrible!

Day 52 Black and White: Tree

Ummmm…..tree? Haha I’m running out of ideas and I know I’ve already taken a really good picture of a tree and posted it on here so there! This is a pretty silhouette of trees with a gorgeous sunset in the background. I didn’t even realize I had taken this on my trek for more blog pictures. What a nice surprise! Ok so I just noticed something really weird. I uploaded this picture and took a look at it and it doesn’t look the same as the one I have in my file…it’s almost like the edits I made didn’t go through. The one I have saved is a little more orange and has a softer hazy effect on it. Weird!

Day 42 we never have it – Day 45

Day 42 Soda

Ok so this and the internet has been why I haven’t posted on my blog! Awful but we hardley NEVER drink soda. The only time we ever have it in our house is when our family comes to visit. And since they don’t visit too often we never seem to have it. So drink up!

Day 43 Tea

I’m an avid tea drinker. I actually think I drink so much tea my blood type is tea positive ha ha ha…yea I know lame! But in the winter time I drink a hot cup every morning to warm up and in the summer it’s ice tea all the way baby! A little contrasty and a little abstract with the close up view and contrast. I just finished a glass and am about to go make another gallon 🙂

Day 44 Wine

A nice little sip of wine every now and then 🙂 I actually really like this photo. I didn’t know the cork had all of this stuff written on it. It’s such a nice little addition that most people probably wouldn’t even notice. I’ve gone back to liking sweet wine again. Of course it’s been awhile since I even had a little sip but I lika me some sweet stuff 😀

Day 45 Cocktail

Ok so yea we don’t have cocktails so I made this one up. Pretend ok? This is about as close to a cocktail as I’m gonna get LOL. Now I was so tempted to pick up those Martguerita mixes at Walmart yesterday because they were only $1.97 and they were already pre-made. Pretty tempting 🙂

Days 39 – 41 Caffeine Break

Day 39 Beer

We had a pretty sunset tonight and I wanted the sunset to be in the background 🙂 silly I know! But take a drink! I’ve been having a lot of trouble keeping up with this blog! I want to remind myself to do it everyday but I either forget or think oh I can do it tomorrow. My excuse for this week is I’ve been sick with a yucky cold! But my plan is to try harder now. I haven’t gotten my camera out for like a week and I was out taking pictures with it last night and was renewed afresh with how great the pictures are!

Day 40 Coffee

I’m not a coffee fan. I found this baby spoon in that suitcase that we found in the shed loft in the woods and I forgot to put it back in there. Bad me. But it says it’s from Italy on the back of it and I thought it would look neat in this picture.

Day 41 Juice

I killed most of our fenceline with pesticide and didn’t realize it until it was too late that we have blackberries along our fenceline! So I probably killed most of them but there were a few that were left and some of them had some berries on them. I picked them and ate one of them but it was still too tart haha. But I squished it on the sink to make some juice for this pic. I put some texture in this picture. I’ve been wanting to try out some textured pictures. I really like the effect they make. I need to find and save some more to my computer!

Day 29 Shoelaces

Day 29 Shoelaces

My Columbia’s. We bought these a couple of years ago right before our honeymoon so we could go hiking. We each got a pair but the hubby doesn’t wear his very often. Not sure why because I love mine. If my son wasn’t so heavy I think we’d go hiking. But he weighs so much! I suppose the husband could always carry him. I’d be killing two birds with one stone then. Helping the husband lose some weight and well I wouldn’t be carrying him haha. I need to be thinking about symmetry next. It would be fun to go hiking and do more outdoor activities. I suppose we’ll have to wait until he’s old enough to run and carry his own weight for awhile.

Day 38 Rebel Orange

Day 38 Color: Orange
So I was at Big Lots the other day and found these pacifiers that have skulls on them. One says Rebel and the other says Stud Muffin…how could I resist when they were the brand he likes? I know I should be weaning him from these instead of buying him more but I couldn’t help myself. I’ve been waiting to wean him until his reflux clears up. Every time I think it might be clearing up he spits up everywhere. I’m hoping to have him weaned by the time he is a year if not before. Maybe I’ll throw it in there with weaning him off of breastfeeding. So here he is 🙂

Days 30 – 37

Day 30 Symmetry
My dog Moo is pretty symmetrical 🙂

31. Horizons
Just a normal everyday sunset on Whitehorse Road.

32. Color: Red
A purplish red leaf.

33. Color: Blue
Our Ferrelgas propane tank lol yea I know I’m getting desperate but it’s still a cool pic.

34. Color: Green
A bean plant growing!!!

35. Color: Yellow
My biggest pepper….I don’t remember what kind of pepper it is though.

36. Color: Purple
A clover. My horses are going to love their new pasture if they every get up here.

37. Color: Brown
This turned out to be an awesome pic. Koda, my cattle dog, has what is called a cracked eye. where a part of her eye has like glass crackle in it. It’s a whitish color. It’s common in the Louisiana Catahoula’s which is why we think she’s part catahoula and heeler due to her spotty coloring and the cracked eye.
