I haven’t been on here for a couple of days. My son was sick and then both my husband and I caught his cold. So…I wasn’t able to make it out any to take any pictures because I didn’t want to leave the little guy at all. I posted my first crochet set on etsy for sale. $19.95 with free shipping. http://www.etsy.com/listing/67088334/newborn-brown-brim-hat-diaper-cover-free is the posting. It’s still January and I’m already running out of ideas of what to take pictures of. I know when it warms up it will be easier because I’ll be able to put the little guy in a wrap and carry him around with me but it’s too cold for that right now. I’m hoping to sell some of these crochet thingys to help save up for my D700:D
I made this pattern up after crocheting a free pattern hat I found on lionbrand.com (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/60422.html?noImages=0&r=1) I wanted a diaper cover to match. I put this on my 4 month old and it was a tad bit big for him so you might size the pattern down if you have a smaller baby. But I don’t see too many patterns out there for bigger babies so I thought this might be nice. But I’ve been working on a lot of patterns here lately. I think I may start selling some of them 🙂

I love snow! Most people complain and whine about snow and how much trouble it is but hey if it’s going to be this dang cold outside it might as well snow! Plus we have Subaru’s which helps out quite a bit 🙂 my husband made me take a few pictures of his Baja so he could post them on a forum to show off his Yokahama Geolandar ATS tires. Well he’s a big dork 🙂 but I still love him. And he’s right the Subaru’s do get around a lot better in the snow that normal vehicles thanks to the AWD system. Love my Forester….lol
So my husband took me for a drive down the road along beautiful Brown County so I could take a few pictures. I love to play with the settings on my camera so I can learn how to use them better so I had fun. I took my tripod because it was getting dark fast and I was glad I took it because it enabled me to take a few nice pictures. I edited a bluer sky into the tree photo…and it was sooo easy to do thanks to CS5. All I had to do was refine the edge in the selection I made of the sky and I used the gradient tool with white on one end and blue sky on the other to create sky.
My poor son and I are sick so we have been lazing around all day so it was nice to get out and about. It’s harder than I thought with a 4 month old trying to keep up with this 365 photos a day. I’m thinking about making a small studio in the basement so that may help me out a little.
I’ve been wanting to do a photo like this since my son was born. He’s a bit too wiggly to do it now but I’m going to keep trying until I get the one I want. But here is my son’s wiggly little toes up against his daddy’s feet. Even at 4 months old he still has the cutest little tiny feet 🙂 of course you know I’m biased! I liked this one in black and white. My flash was dying and he was getting mad so I had to hurry. Will try again later!!!
I haven’t delved too much into Illustrator but I did at least learn how to trace/draw in it using the pen tool. All you have to do is paste a picture of something you want to recreate into Illustrator and use the pen tool to trace over top of it. You make paths and connect them and later fill them with the Live Paint Tool and adjust your layers so you have the right colors on top of each other. I pasted a water color painting I did of a sorrel and white painted horse that reminded me of my mare Wapasha and traced over it. The painting is actually a painting of the front half of the horse and a separate back half. Kinda looks neat but I had to combine them to come up with my logo picture. I was pretty proud of myself anyways 🙂
I went to see my cousin and her newborn yesterday to take some pictures. I haven’t been back at the hospital for awhile and I was missing the newborn posing. My son is a bit too big for the newborn posing but I get smiles out of him 🙂 I was trying to get the pose where he’s sleeping heavily and I prop his hands up under his chin but he wasn’t wanting to do that pose haha. So I got a few other cute ones. He was very cooperative and fell asleep for us. He was a little cutie and I was happy for a chance to take some pictures of him.
I learned how to crochet from my grandma. Of course as a child I would just crochet long chains all throughout the house and make a big mess haha! But I never really enjoyed crocheting until recently….when I made my nieces some crochet stuffed animals for Christmas. After that I couldn’t seem to stop myself.
I started looking online for more patterns and started seeing a lot of newborn poses with crochet hats and diaper covers and cocoons. So this is one I just finished making tonight that I hope to use soon. My poor son!!!!
Hopefully this hat and diaper cover will be covering a newborn soon and will hopefully make it into one of the next few posts. Well that’s all for tonight folks!
Well I’m kind of slacking…I haven’t had much of a chance to get out and take more pictures so I’m going to upload an old one. I was working today and my son usually goes with me to work so it usually takes a lot longer to get things done 🙂
So here is a photo I took spring of last year at a harness racing farm (Ruddick Stables) in Scipio, IN. This little colt was very curious and alert. There is a difference between trotting horses and pacing horses if you know anything at all about harness racing. First off the goal in harness racing is to get your horse to trot/pace a mile under 2 minutes. That may not sound hard but you get points against you if your horse goes into a gallop. And then there are trotters and pacers. Trotters trot at a diagonal….with 2 legs hitting the ground at once diagonally from each other. Pacers pace on the same side….so that is 2 legs on the same side hitting the ground. Kind of like a train.
